Grab your camera or cell phone and come out to Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve!

Olivenhain Municipal Water District and its partner, the Escondido Creek Conservancy, launched the Eighteenth Annual Amateur Photo Contest on November 23, 2024. The Reserve is full of wonderful photographic opportunities for photographers of all skill levels.

Winners will be selected from the categories of Water Scenery, Scenic View, Plants, Animals, Youth Photographer (age 15 and under), and People’s Choice; photos will also be selected for the coveted Best in Show award. Winning photographers will be recognized at OMWD’s June 18, 2025 Board of Directors meeting, and are eligible for prizes from our sponsors, including $100 cash from the Escondido Creek Conservancy, passes to San Diego Zoo/Safari Park, California Wolf Center, and EcoVivarium Reptile Sanctuary, gear from REI, and a 24″ x 36″ canvas print from PC Photo! Select winning submissions will be displayed at the Elfin Forest Interpretive Center Honoring Susan J. Varty from June to December 2025.

Photos must be received by OMWD by 11:00 p.m. on April 27, 2025. There is no fee to enter. Please view the complete contest rules before entering. For more information, contact our rangers via email or by calling 760-632-4212.
